Norfolk Agricultural School – Walpole, MA

Green Design

The Essex Aggie Mechanics Building suffered from high water table leading to basement floor moisture and elevator pit flooding making the elevator and controls inoperable and subject to high vapor conditions. New de-watering plan was developed from three possible schemes to relieve the seasonal flooding conditions. New culverts and drain line were installed around the perimeter of the Building under existing footings. Water was collected in four large underground catch basins. Permission from the Town Conservation Commission was received to allow catch basin release of temporarily collected water into the Schools large site pond. This project allowed for continuation of School classes within the building in dry, healthy and safe environment.
